for young people between 14 and 25 years old
A city at the time of climate change
To understand how the younger generations live the present climate change and imagine the future, the project Occupy Climate Change (OCC!) launches the literary contest "Naples 2200: a city at the time of climate change". The challenge is to imagine what Naples will be like in two hundred years. Will it be a dystopian reality, a paradise or a hypertechnological hell, or maybe it will be dominated by the return of wild nature, or maybe a completely new ecosystem with living beings that we do not know?
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE. The competition is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 25. Authors over 25 years of age can submit their history, out of competition.
DEADLINE TERMS. 30 May 2019
THE PRIZE. The winning texts will be published in a volume that will collect the stories produced also for the other four cities of the OCC! (Stockholm, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro and New York). All the stories, not only the award-winning ones, will be published online on the project's website.
THE COMMISSION. The evaluation committee is made up of Marco Armiero (coordinator of the OCC! project and environmental historian), Bruno Arpaia (writer), Marica Di Pierri (lawyer and activist), Serenella Iovino (ecocritic), Luca Mercalli (meteorologist and scientific divulger).
THE PROJECT. The project Occupy Climate Change (OCC!) is financed by the Swedish agency FORMAS and is coordinated by Marco Armiero, the first CNR-ISSM researcher who, since 2013, has directed the Environmental Humanities Laboratory of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
